Disability Claim Attorney

Finding a disability claims attorney isn’t difficult. Many attorneys are now entering this growing field of law. Only recently has the Department of Veterans Affairs allowed veterans to hire legal counsel for assistance in the application process for disability benefits. In the past, attorneys were not permitted at any stage in the appeals process for denied claims, either. As unfair as it seems, the only time that legal representation was afforded to disabled veterans was if a case came before the United States Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims. Otherwise, the appeal board at the Department of Veterans Affairs had the final say in whether or not a claim was approved.

Things have changed drastically in recent years. Public concern over veterans not having access to expert legal advice to assist them in applying for disability benefits has lead to several important reforms in the application process. The most important of those reforms has been the rule change that now allows attorneys to come in at the very beginning of a claim for disability benefits. Today, an attorney can begin assisting his client even before the initial claims paperwork is filled out.

Find a Qualified Disability Claims Attorney

Trained disability attorneys know how to get an application filled out the right way, resulting in claims that are often airtight. In the rare case a veteran has to go before the appeals board or to court, the attorney will handle those things as well.
